CONTROL YOUR BLOOD CHOLESTEROL
HDL (“GOOD” CHOLESTEROL)
This form picks up cholesterol from the blood vessels and carries it to the liver so it can be eliminated.
LDL (“BAD” CHOLESTEROL)
This form sticks to the walls of the blood vessels, leading to the formation of a thick, waxy plaque atherosclerosis).
A DIET HIGH IN FAT CAN RESULT IN HIGH LEVELS OF “BAD” CHOLESTEROL AND ANOTHER FORM OF FAT CALLED TRIGLYCERIDES IN THE BLOOD.

The tendency to have high cholesterol can be inherited, or be caused by your lifestyle. Eating a healthy diet and building regular physical activity into your life can help to lower high blood cholesterol levels.  Medication can also help to reduce cholesterol levels. Medication is no substitute for a good diet and physical activity, though. Even if you are taking cholesterol-lowering medication, it is important to eat healthy and exercise.
