REGIONAL STROKE SERVICES

Stroke is a medical emergency.  Chances of surviving a stroke and achieving full recovery are significantly higher if medical help is sought right away.  Trillium Health Partners (THP) - Mississauga Site is the Regional Stroke Centre for the West GTA Stroke Region.  It is one of the leading hospitals in Canada for delivering t-PA (clot buster) and EVT (clot removal) to acute stroke patients.  It provides tertiary-level adult stroke services including "on call" neurologists to provide acute stroke treatment, neurosurgery services, cerebral-vascular intervention, as well as highly skilled emergency staff who are experienced in identifying and treating stroke patients.  Trillium Health Partners provides comprehensive services spanning acute care through outpatient rehabilitation services.  Two services, the Comprehensive Stroke Unit and the Regional Stroke Prevention Clinic are highlighted in more detail in the sections below.
